lumikkaは、2022年に設立された日本とフィンランドを拠点とするデザインユニットです。私たちは、「つくること」と「つたえること」を通じてものごとに新たな視点を与え、人々の日常に自由と喜び、感動を与えることを目指しています。私たちの仕事はまず徹底したリサーチから始まり、思考と実験を繰り返しながら適切なアウトプットのかたちを探究します。これまでの主な活動としては、18-20世紀のフィンランドデザインのリサーチおよびオンラインショップの運営、フィンランドのデザイン・自然・文化全般に関する取材（本やウェブメディアへの文章／写真の提供）など、活動は領域横断的に展開されています。現在は、これまでのリサーチに基づいたデザインワーク／アートワークの制作へ向けて日々実験を続けています。
lumikka is a design unit established in 2022, based between Japan and Finland. Through making and communicating, we aim to offer new perspectives on the everyday, bringing a sense of freedom, joy, and quiet wonder to people’s lives. Our work begins with in-depth research, followed by continuous cycles of thinking and experimentation to explore the most fitting form of expression. Our past activities span disciplines such as research on Finnish design from the 18th to 20th centuries, the operation of an online shop, and the production of articles and photographs for books and web media covering Finnish design, nature, and culture. Currently, we are deepening our practice by creating original design and art works inspired by these ongoing explorations.
アアルト大学への留学の後、京都工芸繊維大学 博士前期課程(デザイン学)を修了。デザインオフィスnendoを経てlumikkaとしての活動をはじめる。建築の分野で培った複合的な思考を軸に、日本とフィンランドを行き来しながら文化/芸術全般に関するリサーチと作品の制作を継続的に行う。主な興味は人間の営みから生まれるものとそれが生み出す関係性にあり、国籍や性別、文化や社会などのあらゆる境界を超えて共有し得る原初的な感情/感動をつくることを目指している。現在は、言葉・写真・ドローイング・オブジェクト・インスタレーションなどメディアを横断しながら探究と実験を続けている。
Completed a master’s degree in design at the Kyoto Institute of Technology after studying abroad at Aalto University in Finland. Began working as lumikka following experience at the design office nendo. With a foundation in interdisciplinary thinking developed through a background in architecture, he continues to engage in research and creative work across culture and the arts, moving between Japan and Finland. His core interest lies in the things that arise from human activity and the relationships they generate. He aims to create fundamental emotions and resonances that transcend borders of nationality, gender, culture, and society. Currently, he continues to explore and experiment across a variety of media—including language, photography, drawing, objects, and installation—as part of his ongoing creative practice.
上智大学大学院理工学研究科修士課程修了。キヤノン株式会社にて化学系エンジニアとして材料開発に従事後、デザイン部門に異動しデザインリサーチャーとしてユーザーリサーチや部門横断型ワークショップのファシリテーションに携わる。アアルト大学ではデザインマネジメントを専攻し、異なる専門性や文化背景を持つ人々との共創プロジェクトに取り組む。人や物事にじっくり向き合うなかで生まれる小さな気づきや揺らぎのようなものに関心があり、現在はlumikkaの活動と並行して、個人やチームの対話や内省の場づくりを支援している。また、洋裁や刺繍、編みものなどの手しごとに向き合いながら、自分の感覚や内面にそっと触れる時間を大切にしている。
Completed a master’s degree in science and engineering at Sophia University. After working as a chemical engineer in materials development at Canon Inc., transitioned to the design division, where she facilitated user research and cross-functional workshops as a design researcher. Later specialized in design management at Aalto University, engaging in co-creation projects with people from diverse disciplines and cultural backgrounds. Her interest lies in the subtle shifts and quiet insights that emerge through deep attention to people and things. In parallel with her work at lumikka, she supports individuals and teams by creating spaces for dialogue and reflection. She also values time spent with her hands—sewing, embroidery, knitting—as a way to gently reconnect with her senses and inner self.
